One of England's leading top flight football teams, who were on their way to winning the Premiership at the time of this project (2006/2007 season).
The Brief
To provide a stock taking solution for the Megastore at the Old Trafford ground. Stock taking was previously done with a paper-based system which was labour intensive, slow and prone to errors. Stock data was to be sent to their existing product and stock maintenance system (Kerridge).
The Solution
FMK provided software to run on a desktop PC which drove a number of NordicID Bluetooth handhelds on the shop floor. Product data was periodically imported to the software's internal database from the existing stock system.
The stock take was divided into a number of locations and the handheld operators could choose which area they were working in at any one time. Each area was counted twice for quality control with live progress updates on the PC. Any errors could be corrected on the PC before the stock data was exported in a CSV file compatible with the existing Kerridge system.
Additionally the handhelds could be used for price lookup when not stock taking, thus maximising the return from the investment.
