The Client

Gloster Furniture make high quality outdoor furniture for worldwide distribution.

The Brief

Gloster were required by one of their major retail customers to provide barcode labels on each item they shipped. Labels needed to be produced in bulk for shipping to the factories in the far east.

The Solution

Gloster had their product database available as an Excel file, including the barcodes as allocated through GS1. We created an application which loaded this data into an internal database, thus allowing for instantaneous searching for matching products as the user typed any part of the product description. Once the required product was found the user entered the number of labels required, then repeated the operation for other products until a batch of labels was completed. Printing to the Zebra printer then took place automatically.

As part of the project we liaised directly on the client's behalf with their customer to ensure the barcode label met the required format.

Despite the company having had no previous experience with barcoding they commented on how easy it was to use the system.
