FMK provides software development services in the auto-id sector to end users, resellers and systems integrators, and has been doing so for more than 10 years now. In that time we have created solutions on barcode hardware from most major manufacturers, including Symbol/Motorola, Intermec, HandHeld Products, Metrologic, Casio, Belgravium, Datalogic, Opticon and Denso. Our list of end users includes such names as Matalan, Thomson Holidays, Inchcape Automotive, Debenhams, WH Smith and many others.

Most of our terminal development today is done in C or C++, or in C# and .NET Compact Framework for Windows Mobile, but our experience spans everything from DOS (on the Symbol 3000 series) through proprietary systems (such as Denso Basic) to the current Windows Mobile and CE devices.

Data Communications

We recognise that a terminal application however good is no use unless it can communicate accurately and efficiently with the users existing systems. We are experts in designing and implementing communications routines, whether wired or wireless, local or wide area, custom or standards-based. Additionally we can generally emulate any existing protocol enabling users to upgrade their terminal hardware with little or no impact on their existing back-end systems.

Wide Area Data Collection

We have been involved with mobile data applications since the earliest days of GSM and GPRS data integration and can offer modern solutions based either on totally bespoke development or using third party tools.

Whole Solution

Where other software houses can supply only one element of the solution, we can provide everything from terminal software, through data communications to desktop data analysis and reporting (including intranet access). We can also create custom interfaces into existing back-end systems, whether through a standard such as SQL or through a proprietary API.

Specification Services

Although end-users always know what they want to achieve, they will often need some guidance when it comes to designing the best solution. This is when we can, if the systems integrator wishes, work with all parties to help specify the most efficient solution on the target hardware.
